The name of the chairman of the Tolikara Regency DPRD, Sonny Wanimbo, emerged because he was suspected of being one of the donors of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
This was obtained from the development of the case for the arrest of Ratius Murib alias Neson Murib, who is a suspect in the sale and purchase of illegal firearms. Nelson was arrested at Mulia Airport, Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua, Monday (14/6/2021).
Head of the Nemangkawi Ops Public Relations Task Force Kombes M Iqbal Al-Qudusy said Neson Murib had made transactions for weapons and ammunition of up to billions of rupiah. When he was arrested at Mulia Airport, he was carrying around IDR370 million in cash.
It is suspected that Neson Murib will use the money to buy KKB firearms and ammunition. Iqbal revealed that the total illegal firearm transactions amounted to IDR 1.3 billion.
In the initial examination, Neson Murib revealed several important things. Including the alleged involvement of cadres of the National Democratic Party (NasDem) of Tolikara Regency giving money to the Papuan KKB. The person is called the initials SAW.
“The alleged involvement of Nasdem cadres must be a record of the management of Papua’s Otsus funds”
The Rp 370 million cash that Neson Murib brought was reportedly obtained from someone who is being investigated for his role. From the search results, SAW gave Rp 370 million of money to Neson Murib at the Metta Star Waena Hotel, Jayapura City, in mid-April 2021.
In addition to cash, the police also found records of assistance from the Puncak Regency Government worth Rp 600 million for the KKB leader, Lekagak Telenggen, on February 6, 2021. Not only that, notes on the rejection of Papua’s Special Autonomy (Otsus) were also recovered from Neson’s hands.
Later the initials SAW referred to the chairman of the Tolikara Regency DPRD, Papua Sonny Wanimbo. After his name emerged, Sonny Wanimbo denied the accusations against him. Sonny also admitted that he did not know Neson Murib at all.
He also denied information related to him being said to be in the same campus with Neson in Bali. Sonny said he took his college education in Jakarta.
Furthermore, Sonny considered the information that said he was a contributor to KKB’s funds that had been circulating in the media constituted character assassination and defamation. He also emphasized that he was ready to be summoned by Papuan Police investigators to be questioned as witnesses.
But so far, he’s been waiting. Responding to the case that was entangling its cadres, the Regional Management Board (DPW) of the National Democratic Party (NasDem) of Papua Province stated that it would defend Sonny.
As many as more than 100 lawyers are said to be ready to be deployed to accompany Sonny. The one hundred lawyers came from cadres and professional lawyers in Papua.
Aloysius emphasized that if there are other unfounded accusations, his party is ready to take legal action. Allegations of involvement of local officials in the KKB movement emerged.
This was also strongly denied by the chairman of the Tolikara DPRD, Sonny A Wanimbo, who was also mentioned as a supplier of funds to buy weapons. Unmitigated hundreds of lawyers are ready to be deployed to defend Sonny.
