The central government pays special attention to development in two provinces, Papua and West Papua. This is reflected in the regional autonomy fund budget which for the last 20 years has reached Rp138.65 trillion. Member of the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) Dorince Mehue stated that if you look at the numbers, Papuans should be living in prosperity.

Papuan People’s Assembly member Dorince Mehue said, if you look at the numbers, the Papuan people should have been prosperous. He also believes that if the Otus funds are properly guarded and provided on target, there will be big changes in the Land of Papua. One of them is the Human Development Index (HDI) of Papua which will continue to increase.

“The HDI rate in Papua is currently rising. The increase will continue, if all are committed to being able to properly safeguard special autonomy and all funds that have fallen will remain targeted.”

However, he also hopes that the Special Autonomy funds can reach all levels of society. Especially women and children. As a female figure in Papua, Dorince sees that during the 20 years that Otsus funds have been disbursed, there are still components that have not been touched. He hopes that with the revision of Law (UU) No. 2 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy in Papua, the above policy budget management will be right on target, especially for women and children in Papua.

Meanwhile, the customary law community of the Saireri II Nabire region fully supports special autonomy which has been ratified by the DPR RI and signed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, and has been revised with Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning amendments to the two laws Number 21 of 2001 concerning autonomy. specifically for Papua Province.

This was revealed by the heads of three traditional institutions in the Saireri II Nabire region, namely Socrates Sayori as chairman of the Indigenous Peoples Institution (LMA) of the Nabire region, chairman of the Nabire District Customary Council (BMA), and the chairman of the regional Papuan Customary Council (DAP). Nabire.

According to the chairman of the Nabire District Customary Council (BMA), customary elements in the Saireri II Nabire region will participate in supervising the use of the special autonomy budget which will be distributed for the benefit of the community, and it is the responsibility of the government, so that later the funds can benefit people in need.

The same thing was also expressed by Socrates Sayori as chairman of the LMA for the Saireri II Nabire region, according to him, special autonomy belongs to the Papuan people, and the people have the right to get it because Otsus is a blessing from God that the indigenous Papuans must be grateful for, but there must also be thorough supervision so that This large special autonomy fund really touched the people of Papua, especially the people of the Saireri II Nabire indigenous territory.

On the other hand, Nabire traditional leaders, Nabire intellectual leaders and chairman of the Papuan Customary Council (DAP) for the Saireri II region Nabire added that Special Autonomy is a blessing from God given by God through the central government so it must be understood correctly and clearly, according to him, the first special autonomy very good because there is evaluation and supervision so that it has a positive impact on the second special autonomy, and the law has been revised, ratified by the DPR RI and signed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.
