Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said that the acceleration of Papua’s development involves the community and local government, so it is not only based on the central government.
“We don’t only look at aspects from the central government’s point of view, but also local, provincial, district and city governments, as well as people’s views.”
By involving the interests of the Papuan people, the Vice President continued, development in Papua will be realized in accordance with the needs and desires of the community.
The Vice President said that the Government wanted to build in accordance with the needs of the community, the wishes of the community, both indigenous peoples and the community as a whole.
The synergy between the central government and the Papuan government can also evaluate the progress of accelerating development so far, by strengthening the legal umbrella through Law 2/2021 concerning the Second Amendment to Law 21/2001 on Special Autonomy for the Papua Province.
Through the latest Special Autonomy Law, continued the Vice President, the Government involves the contribution of the Papuan people or Papuan indigenous people (OAP) in accelerating its development. The government hopes that this will give trust from the Papuan people, from Papuan leaders, both government leaders, traditional leaders, religious leaders and women leaders.
In addition, the central government also promotes dialogue with the Papuan people to eliminate dissatisfaction and accelerate the development of the Land of Papua.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, waves of support for the Special Autonomy (Otsus) policy volume II continued to arrive. One of the supports was delivered by Yapen community leader Daniel Waroi.
The man who lives in Jayapura City admitted that he strongly supports the continuation of Otsus in Papua. According to him, the special autonomy fund given by the central government is very large.
He also hopes that the presence of Otsus volume II can improve the welfare of the people in Papua. According to him, Otsus must continue because it has helped the Papuan people a lot.
He also welcomed the government’s plan to expand the province of Papua. He considered it reasonable because from a geographical point of view, Papua is very wide.
The same thing was also conveyed by the General Tribal Chief Napan Andi. He emphasized that the presence of Otsus had brought independence for Papuans within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, he revealed that the rejection of Otsus actually came from certain groups ridden by the political elite.
